Types of fabrics for bedding
Most of our precious time, on average 20-30 years, is spent in bed. Therefore, the choice of bed linen and accessories must be carefully approached. The quality of the fabric from which the sheet, pillowcase and duvet cover are sewn affects sleep, and therefore our well-being and mood. In order not to be mistaken with the choice of a set of bedding, we will consider separately the features of each type of fabric.
Bedding fabrics
Bamboo is a highly durable fabric, in comparison with cotton, it is softer and silky, but not as slippery as silk. It has antibacterial properties even after 50 washes.
Calico - a dense cotton fabric made of thick, often intertwined threads. This fabric is environmentally friendly, practically does not wrinkle (indispensable for lazy housewives), and has such an important quality as color brightness when used for a long time.
Viscose - the so-called "imitation silk". The fabric is made from cellulose and is very economical for making bedding.
Jacquard is a fabric containing synthetic and organic fibers. The threads are difficult to intertwine, which gives the material greater strength. This fabric absorbs water very well.
Microfiber (microfiber) - 100% polyester. Microfiber is known as a material from which even the most stubborn dirt is removed, retains its brightness after repeated washings. An irreplaceable thing for families with small children. The pile of the fabric distributes static electricity evenly. In addition, the fabric is resistant to mechanical stress.
The composition of percale is as follows: 100% cotton, 50% cotton and 50% polyester, or 100% linen. The fabric is very durable, but at the same time thin and pleasant to the touch, it keeps heat very well. Poplin is produced by processing cotton or chemical fibers, or silk (in rare cases). Bed linen made of poplin is very smooth and dense, while retaining softness, thereby betraying a noble gloss.
Satin (100% cotton) is made from twisted double weave yarn. Satin has properties such as softness, lightness, silkiness, breathability, does not cause allergic reactions, extinguishes static electricity, does not wrinkle.
Chintz - a fabric consisting of rarely intertwined thick threads, as a rule, patterned and one-colored, a little harsh, but very smooth. The flannel is made from pure brushed cotton. This material is able to keep warm, very soft and covered with "fluff".
Silk is associated by many with a noble brilliance and tenderness. China, India, Uzbekistan and Brazil have long been famous for silk production.
Linen bedding
Let's take a closer look at flax, since recently it has been especially popular and in great demand. Linen bedding is a so-called "classic of the genre". It is possible to isolate flax from all fabrics by the characteristic knots in the weaving of the fabric and the stiffness when feeling. Linen bedding has the following properties:- Massage effect.
- Excellent heat insulator. This is evidenced by the fact that the temperature between the human body and the tissue in the hot season is 3-4 degrees lower than the atmospheric temperature.
- Antibacterial. Destroys microbes and prevents inflammation.
- Serves as a conditioner: absorbs moisture well, but dries quickly.
- Remains unchanged with a large number of washes, and most importantly - it only gets softer over time.
